Why should I travel to another country
for treatment?
Medical procedures and surgeries abroad could save you
60% to 80% of the cost of a similar procedure in your native
country. It is a realistic alternative for patients looking
for quality treatment that is affordable. Depending on the
treatment and recovery patients can also enjoy a relaxing
vacation
What kind of care will I receive?
With our international reputation at stake, patients
can be sure of having only the best doctors working on their
case. Many of our associate institutions have been JCI certified
or are in the process of achieving this certification. Our
affiliate doctors are often internationally trained and
some are U.S.- or UK-board certified. Several of our associates
have partnered with a leading U.S. health care institution
such as John Hopkins Hospital and Health System and Harvard
Medical International.
What risk factors are associated with
overseas treatment?
By working with only the finest institutions and doctors,
we strive to ensure that the level of risk is no greater
than what you face in the home country. Nevertheless, it
is important for patients to do their own research based
on the options that we present in order to make an informed
decision.
What does your post treatment program
consist of?
Once your doctor is certain that you have sufficiently
recovered, you will be discharged with electronic medical
records (EMRs). Once you are home, our doctor can speak
with your GP or hospital consultant, and provide them with
any additional information they need about your procedure.
You will also be automatically enrolled in our follow-up
program.
Is full time nursing care available
for patients traveling alone?
Though we recommend patients travel with companion, we
have 24/7 nursing assistance for those who plan to travel
alone. These qualified nurses can communicate in English.
How much money will I save?
You can save up to 80% on your procedure. Your savings
will depend on various factors, including the cost of the
same surgery in the home country and the extent of health
insurance coverage. We will provide you with an estimate
of costs abroad including medical, travel and lodging for
your consideration.
What is included in the cost of care?
The cost of the medical procedure quoted by Star Hospitals
includes transportation, case management, the procedure
itself, medicines, hospitalization, and all expenses associated
with onsite follow-up care. The costs of tourism and optional
services are not included, but Star Hospitals can help patients
make such travel arrangements.
How will I know what my treatment will
cost? Will there be unexpected expenses?
Based on your conversation with our office you will receive
up to three or more quotes to compare. The estimate is based
the cost of the procedure, the physician's fees, meals,
and the cost of the hospital room. Additional procedures
will not be covered in the same estimate. You will always
be informed in advance about unexpected costs such as medication.
You will not have any unexpected charges unless an extra
service or treatment is being given.
Why is health care so much cheaper abroad?
The insurance paid by doctors overseas is very low compared
to the medical malpractice premiums paid by Western physicians.
Plus, healthcare expenses are relative to the local cost
of living; the fees and salaries of healthcare support workers
in Asia are substantially lower than their counterparts
in the West. In countries where the dollar commands very
high buying power, physicians, hospitals and medications
are easily affordable.
Is my package refundable?
We do not receive money from our patients. You are advised
to pay the hospital directly upon arrival. If you are not
happy with the hospital prior to admission we will be glad
to work with you to identify a more suitable one. If you
have paid for additional services, Star Hospitals will refund
most of your money before you receive any service. Customer
satisfaction is our highest priority; that is the reason
we offer refunds and it is the source of our confidence
in our services and overseas partners.
Can you help us choose a foreign hospital
and doctor?
In order for patients to make an informed choice we provide
all possible information on each hospital, its medical procedures,
surgeons and doctors. Information about our partner hospitals
can be found by clicking on the following links (India,
Singapore,
Thailand) Star Hospitals will
facilitate the initial consultation. All reports and tests
will be e-mailed to the doctor for opinion and videoconference.
I can't find the procedure I need on
your website. Does that mean it is not available through
your program?
No. Our specialty hospitals perform a myriad of medical
procedures. However, if our website does not include the
procedure you are looking for, please contact us for assistance.
